Cerebral palsy – is a collective term combining a group of chronic non-progressing symptom complexes of movement disruptions, secondary in relation to infections and/or cerebral anomalies arising in the perinatal period.
Musculature disbalance contained amount CP patients entails a child’s inability to complete arbitrary movements, the act of standing and walking is disrupted, as well as movement coordination. There is a predominance of the flexor tone, adductor, pronating muscles and is developing contractures in the limbs, kyphoscoliosis, kyphosis, scoliosis of the spinal column.
Spastics in the adductor and pronating muscles lead to improper development of the hip and pelvic joints. Gradually, misalignment progresses in the hip component and the neck diaphysial angle increases. All of this leads first to incomplete dislocation followed then by dislocation in the hip and pelvic joint.
At our center, we undertake the development and manufacture of devices for the lower limbs and the body. Such orthotics is applied for verticalization of patients in the event of CP and other neuropathologies inborn in the spine and the cerebrum, as well as cerebral crises and injuries.
For the creation of orthotics, we apply contemporary materials, such as low-pressure plastic, carbon materials, and acrylic cold solidification resins. Lying at the foundation of the devices are hinges, springs, and casts produced by us. A whole array of modules for adults and children alike is produced.
The apparatus
The is a modern high-tech apparatus necessary for spreading apart the lower limbs in the hip and pelvic joints, keeping the femoral head in the gap and stretching the spasm adductor muscles. This apparatus provides a means to verticalize a child from the earliest age, without fearing for the development of partial dislocation, and facilitating the proper development of the pelvic and hip joint slope and coxa valga treatment.
A distinguishing feature of the devices is the ability for the child to move around in them, unlike classical orthopedic correction means (the Vilensky cast, the Mirzoeva cast, etc.).
Is an individually manufactured corrective apparatus and is applied for children with CP (cerebral palsy). Patients with CP have a heightened tone of adductor hip muscles. This tone causes an internal turn of the hip and shin, bending in the knee joints, feet pronation, and bending of the body forward. Such an apparatus levels out pathological developments arising in the event of CP.
Lying at the foundation of the construction are:
-
- Prevention of hip adduction and their spreading out as much as possible;
- Optimal mobilization of a patient with CP;
- The ability of his or her independent movement;
- Rendering walking more natural.
