Treatment gymnastics according to the methods of the German physical therapist Katharina Schroth, known as the “three-dimensional correction of scoliosis – the respiratory orthopedics system via the Schroth method” is the “gold standard” of conservative treatment for scoliosis and other spine deformations. The combination of corset treatment and Schroth therapy is the optimal tactic for preventing scoliosis progression. The time-tested method has existed since 1921 and Schroth therapy attained widespread use in many world countries as a verified medical statistic.
The essence of the method is a collection of exercises for correcting a patient’s body changed by scoliosis in three planes. The choice of exercises depends on the type and degree of the deformation’s severity, the treatment period, and the patient’s functional features – having a pain syndrome, as well as limitations in the spine’s mobility and respiratory insufficiency.
A required component of the method is the use of special derotation – asymmetrical breathing.
The fundamental goal of the exercises is to teach the patient to achieve self-correction of all the body parts and stabilize posture, bringing it to the point of a habit. We give the patient the knowledge and the tool to control his or her own postural balance over the course of his or her whole life!
Features of the special gymnastics:
• An individual approach.
• Ambulatory regimen with short courses (no necessity for hospital treatment).
• Availability and a high level of training.
• Daily monitoring of the exercises’ effectiveness.
• Positive treatment results as soon as following the first session.
• The use of minimal equipment.
• The ability to video record exercises for independent work at home.
